I am truly torn on the topic of zoos. I do not love that animals that should be wild are living in confined spaces. I do, however, believe that the breeding programs most highly regarded zoos participate in are vital to the survival of many species, and if they can further such causes by charging the public to view the animals, then everybody wins.
